Junior Web Developer

Our client is an award-winning Nottinghamshire based communications provider focusing on print and online communications systems. They are industry leaders in the use of variable data and W2P applications and constantly push the boundaries with their innovations in print technology.

They provide technology based solutions to their customers in order to help them in their efforts to:
Automate production of their product.
Control brand consistency.
Personalize messaging down to the individual recipient level.
Create an efficient process for creating and ordering product.
Reduce Storage and collateral management costs.
Track campaign ROI.

They currently have a great opportunity for a Junior Web Developer to assist in developing their variable data solutions, online ordering/marketing portals and cross media marketing campaigns. The position will involve working on both web based systems and documents as well as involvement with print procedures and product production. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the developer will be responsible for end-to-end delivery of applications, sites and campaigns built around their state-of-the-art variable document and marketing applications. You will also occasionally be responsible for communicating directly with client.

Key Responsibilities:
Scope, development and implementation of solutions as defined above.
Interpretation of documented customer requirements for analysis, development, testing and support of variable document solutions.
Working with layout tools, defining and applying variables

The successful candidate will:
Display knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Have knowledge of data / database concepts and web design.
Have some knowledge of print and design tools: InDesign, Quark, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
Have the ability to develop within estimates and committed timelines/SLAs.
Have the ability to communication effectively both verbally and written.
Have high attention to detail.
Have the ability to work and collaborate in a team environment.

Desirable skills:
AJAX, FLASH, SQL or .NET familiarity.
Knowledge of print-production processes.
Knowledge of direct mail and email marketing.
Prior experience with variable data solutions.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level of 2.1 or above relating to web development or design /computer sciences / IT. This is an opportunity for a graduate or someone with at their career outset to acquire a working experience of the technical side of the print and communications industry. You will be coached, mentored and have the opportunity to work alongside technical, production and commercial personnel with years of experience.
