Despite 90% of the jobs advertised out there are represented through Recruitment Agencies there are are still many ads by direct recruiters that boldly state ‘No agencies’. Clearly the majority of employers swear by them so I wander why many others are put off from even considering going down the agnecy route?

Some Recruitment agencies I’ve spoken to say an employer can have a bad experience with a recruitment agency and then tar all others with the same brush. This makes it very difficult for a Recruitment agency to approach some potential new clients even if they have their ‘ideal’ candidate to hand and offer a very hardworking and efficient service.

I remember when I first started viewcreatives back in 1999 it seemed the need for a full-time web developer at agencies was not necessary as the demand for immediate back or front end development work was not there. A typical agency may have been using one or two freelance web developers.

Now its an entirely different story! The same type of agency could typically be staffing a team of 6 to 12 full-time web developers working hard to deliver for very demanding clients that need changes made and ‘can’t wait’ for them to be put live.

There is plenty of work for web developers but simply not enough of them in the UK to go around!

It seems as though more and more designers are looking to go this route, but its not always easy to win the project and get the work – competition is fierce and alot of freelancers undercut or sell themselves short to get the work making it hard for others to accurately quote on a job.
